Effects on Time Management and Procrastination

By Joshua Huish Have you thought about ways that time management is affected by your teen schooling?  One definition we found with time management as planning time that helps is to carry out goals, targets, and activities from our social life. 1 In addition, time management does not solve the problem for individuals in itself. Instead, it helps people reach their effective solutions and consequences. Since we live in the digital age, there are so many effects on time management (specifically in priorities and procrastination) with teenagers and the use of technology.  First, we explain smartphone addiction. This has become more common these days. In the past, addiction was more on substances such as drugs or alcohol. But in today’s digital age, it changed a little. This is still a thing with addiction to drugs and alcohol, but we also see it on non-substance addictions. These are an addition that is most commonly called a technology addiction. 2 This type of addiction is a ...

Video Games

By Joshua Huish This blog post is about teens and technology. This blog post goes over the use it has in our society, between the good and bad way.  Video games play a huge role for many teens in our society. There is much video game research that is done that focuses on how games are impacted in academic and social outcomes (in aggression in particular).  There is a study that was done back in 2008 that asked about half of the teens reported playing video games yesterday, and those who played daily usually played for an hour or more. This is crazy that in today's age, the majority of our society teenagers play some type of video games, whether if they are a game console (Xbox, PlayStation, Wii, etc.), computer games, portal gaming devices (Nintendo DS, Switch, etc.), or other types of video games (these also include games on their cellphones). 2 What we have found that is so interesting to look into is many teenagers do not limit themselves to just a couple of game genres. In...

Limiting Technology Use

By Joshua Huish Technology is a huge part of our America's society. But in today’s digital age, some teens use technology too much in their daily lives. Whether teens are using their smartphones, computer games, video games, etc., or a mixture of them all, some teens are using technology too much more than what is healthy. This post goes over how to limit technology and how to use it properly for your teen.  Setting limits for your teen is a great way to properly limit the use of technology a bit. Setting healthy limits for screen use is a good way for teens. Some parents may shy away from limiting technology use to avoid convicts, or it is difficult to enforce rules for their teens. 2 There are many ways parents can limit their teen’s use of technology while still allowing them to use technology but in a responsible way. Three topics entail limiting technology. They are time, space, and use . 2 We will go over these topics in more depth for you.  Time means to limit the use...

The Influence of Parents' "Phubbing Behavior" on Adolescents

By Qianting Lu "When my mother and I were shopping, I was already very far ahead, and she was still walking slowly with her mobile phone in the back." "Whether it is before going to bed or waking up, Dad always holds the phone. I feel that the phone has become all of Dad's, and he will not be able to live without it."   Have you experienced or heard of similar complaints?       With the rapid development of mobile network technology, mobile phones have become an indispensable part of our lives, and the same is true for parents. Studies have found that parents spend between 0.5 and 7.5 hours on mobile devices such as mobile phones each day, of which 0 to 5 hours are used in front of their children. 2   Such "immersive" mobile phone use is extending the relationship between parents and children with an invisible force.      The behavior of parents bowing their heads will cause parents to withdraw and delay in giving feedback to their ch...

Parent-child Relationship -- Teenagers Technology Use Behavior

By Qianting Lu Nowadays, teenagers use mobile phones, computers or tablet devices everywhere. Researchers have found that young people born in the age of social media have conflicts with their parents. First of all, social media has changed people's living habits and ways of thinking. Parents usually think that there are many dangers, which will distract children from learning. However, the appeal of social media has made it impossible for teenagers to leave it. What parents worry about is that they are addicted to social media and online games. In order to prevent addictive behaviors, parents have set many rules for children, such as setting the length of games and confiscating electronic devices while studying. Such defensive measures and criticism have led to a sharp increase in the relationship between children and parents, and serious deterioration. According to the surveys and research, most of the parents pointed out that social media provides teenagers with a virtual space...

Effective Integration of Technology and High School Classroom Teaching

Image
Technology provides instant access to information, which is why its presence in the classroom is so important. Smartphones, computers and tablets have become ubiquitous elements in the daily lives of students and teachers. It is natural to explore the use of technological devices in the classroom to create meaningful learning experiences for students of all ages. Using different types of technologies in the classroom, including virtual classrooms, can train learners who are actively involved in learning goals. The implementation of technology also creates a way for differentiated teaching to meet the unique needs of students as individual learners in a broader classroom atmosphere. By Qianting Lu Do you think your children use their mobile phones or tablet devices to play games, chat, and already play social media? In fact, children learn more through the media. Researchers in other disciplines, such as health sciences, communications, social work and psychology, also have investigate...
